Arrive to Longyearbyen, check in to your hotel and enjoy an overnight
Meet your expedition leader for briefing and preparation. Head to a hike to top of Plateau Mountain
Post breakfast, take a tour of Longyearbyen before boarding ship towards further north
See the Monaco glacier, enjoy landing at 80°N, and hopefully a glimpse of the walrus colony
We take our first paddling trip and set camp in the surroundings to continue next day

Enjoy your last day of kayaking. Embark MS Nordstjernen and head to Ny-Ålesund for a tour
We disembark at Longyearbyen today, and transfer to airport for flight back to Oslo
MS Nordstjernen is named after the North Star or Stella Polaris, famous for helping seafarers find their way back home and the Vikings to navigate the north. Due to her classic interior and intimate size accommodating only 108 guests, her agility allows navigation of remote places with exciting landings

This tour will involve staying 7 nights in tents at different sites during the course of the journey, giving you the opportunity to enjoy the adventure of camp life! All equipments required for staying in tents will be provided. While in Longyearbyen, you can enjoy a relaxing stay before and after the expedition at the Coal Miner's Cabin, which offers you an accommodation experience of the town's miners post second world war. Rebuilt with modern but shared communal facilities, a stay here takes you back to days of a miner's life.
Spend 8 days paddling around the impressive Krossfjorden, with calving glaciers, teeming bird cliffs and marine life as highlights, and experience Longyearbyen, Barentsburg and the northwest coast of Spitsbergen on the same tour. From the spectacular Tinayre Glacier to hunters cabins and the legendary Lloyds Hotel, each day will offer something new. We will have all of our equipment with us, and be self-sufficient during this expedition - just like the original polar explorers.
This trip requires the participants to be physically fit and previous paddling experience is an advantage. We use both single kayaks and steady double kayaks on this expedition. There are a set number of kayaks, so participants must be prepared to alternate between paddling single and double. Our guides are experienced kayak paddlers and will at all times ensure the groups safety. If the weather is difficult we will go trekking in the beautiful area surrounding the camps. Participants will also be asked to assist with the polar bear watch during the night.
Day wise Itinerary
Day 1
Your expedition begins with your arrival to Oslo airport, where our flight is ready to take you to the northernmost settlement on earth. Once at capital of Svalbard, Longyearbyen, we will transfer to your hotel. If you arrive early, make sure to explore this town and mingle with its friendly locals, before enjoying an overnight.
Day 2
The guide will meet you at the reception of your accommodation. The guide will hold a welcome meeting and briefing, before you head down to the expedition storeroom to go over the equipment and select appropriate dry suits. When we are finished packing, those who would like to can join the guide for a hike to the top of Plateau Mountain. This is a great hike and provides a fantastic view of Adventfjorden and parts of Isfjorden. Accommodation at Coal Miners’ Cabins is included
Day 3
Breakfast is served at Coal Miners’ Cabins from 7 – 8.30 am. We check out from the hotel at 8.30 am. At 9 am we will collect you for a sightseeing trip of Longyearbyen, including Svalbard Museum. This tour ends at the harbour for boarding at 12 noon. Lunch is served on the way to Barentsburg, where we arrive at 4:00 pm. Here we can enjoy a local sightseeing tour, and the colourful folklore show before departing at 6:30 pm to continue north.
Day 4
We arrive in Liefdefjorden and view the impressive Monaco Glacier. There will be a landing in this area, before we sail to 80°N and at the island of Moffen, where we hope to glimpse the walrus colony.
Day 5
Breakfast is served on board before we are dropped off next to Lilliehöökbreen. The adventure is now underway! We will paddle along the bay and possibly camp by Signehamna. Remember to leave some clean clothes on board MS Nordstjernen – it’s always nice to have a fresh set of clothes when you come back from an expedition.
Day 6-11
We kayak in Lilliehöökfjord and cross the fjord to Cadiopynten - an impressive bird cliff. The journey continues in Möllerfjord as we continue to Lloyds Hotel. We can paddle into all of the scenic bays on the west side of the fjord, and marvel at the many towering glacier fronts. From here we will continue south towards Krossfjorden. The distance covered is dependent on weather, wind, currents and the group, but we will aim to reach the July 14th glacier, or even into the bay at Blomstrand Halvøya.
Day 12
The last day of kayaking. In the afternoon we will be collected by MS Nordstjernen. We allow ourselves a warm shower and will enjoy a farewell dinner in the ship’s restaurant. After dinner there will be a chance to disembark in Ny-Ålesund with a guided tour of the town.
Day 13
After a night on board MS Nordstjernen we will enjoy a delicious buffet breakfast before disembarking in Longyearbyen at 10:00 am. Our adventure sadly comes to an end here. We safely transport you to the airport for your flight back to Oslo.

Special Note 
- This tour is not suitable for those with back, neck, arm or wrist issues.
- Knowledge of English or one of Scandinavian languages is must for participation, so as the guide can give you directions for safety and understanding
- Adventure available for age 18 and above
- You can also upgrade your accommodation to other options available in the town – Radisson Blu Polar, Funken Lodge.
